Farm Sanctuary is an amazing organization, lead by President and Co-Founder Gene Baur. Gene started Farm Sanctuary 25 years ago. From humble beginnings as a volunteer organization, funded with proceeds from the sales of veggie hot dogs at Grateful Dead concerts, Farm Sanctuary has grown into the nation’s leading farm animal protection organization. With more than 230,000 members and supporters, Farm Sanctuary sure has come a long way.
On May 14th Farm Sanctuary celebrated their 25th Anniversary with a star-studded Gala in New York City at the beautiful Cipriani Ballroom.
Throughout the years, Gene and his organization have been instrumental in passing laws to protect farm animals and bringing farm animal issues into mainstream awareness.
I had the pleasure of speaking with Gene on the red carpet. We talked about the past, present and future of the organization and animal rights issues. While he is not retiring anytime soon, he remains hopeful and determined to keep pushing forward. It’s always inspiring to hear Gene talk.
