Sharon Nazarian Big City Vegan

This is me, Sharon Nazarian, sporting our popular tote with the message "Once You Meet Them You Can't Eat Them"

Hi everyone!  Welcome to Big City Vegan!

My name is Sharon Nazarian and I co-founded Big City Vegan with my sister Leslie Nazarian.  I’m a vegan food-loving fashionista and my sister is a graphic designer.  We decided to join forces and build a site to help fellow vegans navigate the sometimes murky waters of the non-vegan world.

Big City Vegan launched with a mission to make being vegan fun, fashionable and effortless by being the go-to place to shop cruelty-free with an extensive collection of fashion handbags, shoes, accessories and vegan message gear like t-shirts, tote bags, jewelry and lots of other fun stuff.

We’ve brought together the best of the best to take the guess work out of shopping all vegan.  We’re hoping to do our part to spread the message of compassion and healthy, fashionable living, making this world a healthier, happier place for all.

Everyone has a different story about why they went vegan and what veganism means to them. Sometimes the path to veganism is a sharp turn and then your there, for others its a process. Wherever you’re at, please feel free to share your stories.  You might just inspire someone.

Most of us weren’t born vegan, although I know a few people who were.  Very cool.  As for the rest of us, none of us were vegan before we were vegan.  Being well-informed with a grasp on how to live a healthy, fun, fabulous and cruelty-free lifestyle is what it’s all about and everyone has to start somewhere.

By providing tools, information, inspiration, vegan recipes, entertaining videos, podcasts, interviews, event recaps, product reviews, and of course, a vegan shopping experience, we hope to spread the vegan message and make being vegan more fun and fabulous.

We’ve scoured the stores and curated a fabulous collection of vegan merchandise for your shopping pleasure.   Good fashion is good fashion and vegan designers really know how to turn it out.  Vegan food is not just for vegans anymore.  We look forward to sharing vegan recipes, info and tips on preparing great vegan eats, and providing you reviews on products as we try them.

Also, we’ll report on restaurants we go to, with lots of juicy pics.  Please feel free to share your favorite restaurants with all of us too.   It would be great if BigCityVegan.com can become an ever increasingly awesome resource for all.  It’s here for you, for the cause, so let’s do this kids!

Some FAQs:

If you’re not familiar with what vegan is, here’s a brief 411. Vegans are people who, for various reasons, choose to not consume animals or animal-derived foods and avoid using animal products in other aspects of living as well.  Vegans live on a plant-based diet, so no meat, no dairy, no fish, no eggs.

I always say, “once you meet them you can’t eat them” and you can’t wear them either, so wearing leather, fur and wool, to name the most common culprits, is out. Sporting gorgeous cruelty-free wears is in. Vegan is the new black!

Why ‘big city’? Well there’s big time stories and big events that go on in a big city, especially when that city is the Big Apple NYC, which is where we reside. As such, we want to bring you some of the glitz and fun that a big city has to offer. You’ll find our entertaining and informative videos, podcasts, interviews, event recaps here as well.

What if I live in a small town?  We’re here for you too.  Big isn’t always better.  Enlighten us about how things are there.  I’m sure there are tons of hidden vegan gems that none of us would otherwise know about.

As always, drop a line if there’s anything you’d like to see or if there’s something on your mind.  We’re here for you and we’d love to hear from you too.

Thanks again for hanging out with us!

Lots of vegan love,

:) Sharon
